Project Type: Hospitality Audio Design

Location: Fitzrovia, London

Year: 2024

Client: Drunch Restaurants

SDS Role: Architectural Audio Consultancy

Project Context

Sonic Design Studios was commissioned to deliver the audio design for Drunch, a [premium hospitality venue](/hospitality) located in Fitzrovia, London. Completed in 2024 with interior design by Valerie von Bechtolsheim, the venue required a sophisticated sound system capable of supporting two distinct atmospheres, a high-energy restaurant environment and an exclusive private members speakeasy lounge.

Design Constraint

The primary design constraint involved navigating strict sound limitations. Due to a neighbouring hotel, the system needed to remain fully compliant with local noise regulations while still delivering the necessary musical impact for the guests.

Sonic Concept

Our sonic concept centred on deploying a Pequod Acoustics loudspeaker system. We specified these units not only for their striking sculptural form but also for their highly controlled dispersion characteristics. This ensured even acoustic coverage across the venue without causing excessive sound spill or listener fatigue.

Integration Approach

For the integration moves, we managed all signal processing and speaker protection through a dedicated digital signal processor. By implementing carefully calibrated limiters, we successfully met all local noise constraints while preserving the dynamic musical impact required by the speakeasy and restaurant.

Project Outcome

The final outcome is a beautifully balanced audio environment that actively supports the atmosphere and energy of Drunch without imposing on the surrounding architectural context or disturbing the neighbouring properties.
